1099Policy Getting Started Guide
Welcome to 1099Policy! We’ll help you get your contract hires covered via 1099Policy in a few easy steps.
Note: This article is written for new dashboard users with an existing company 1099Policy account. If your company is brand new to 1099Policy, please contact support@1099policy.com to get a company account configured.
Request a 1099Policy user account
In order to access the 1099Policy dashboard, you’ll need access to your company’s 1099Policy dashboard.
Email support@1099policy.com from your company email address requesting a login. Please copy a team member who uses 1099Policy, if possible.
Once our team creates your account, you’ll receive an email notification prompting you to set up a login.
Add contractors and their job assignments to 1099Policy
If your company has integrated 1099Policy with Worksuite or CreatorIQ, see linked documentation;
If not, bulk upload contractors to the 1099Policy dashboard, by selecting 'Contractors' on the left menu bar, then clicking ‘Bulk Import Contractors’ (see linked documentation)
Prompt the contractor to opt into coverage
For their first assignment, contractors must indicate that they’d like to opt into coverage via 1099Policy by filling out a pre-populated form.
Our system sends each contractor a unique URL linking to the form, but feel free to share the link with them directly via email as well. Unique URLs are available at the top of the freelancer’s profile page.
Enter a PO number
Once the contractor opts into coverage, you’ll see a box at the top of the ‘Contractors’ tab with the number of assignments missing PO numbers. Click this tab and add the correct PO number to the corresponding assignments.
We recommend using one PO number per campaign. Meaning, if you have three contractors on assignment for the same social media campaign, the three assignments should have the same PO number.
Best practice is to upload the PO number within three days of uploading the freelancer(s).
1099Policy will issue an invoice to the contact listed as the 'PO Contact; along with the billing email address listed on the 'Settings' page of your 1099Policy dashboard.
That’s it! Your contractors will now be covered for the duration of their work assignments. They should receive their Certificate of Insurance via email, but you’re also welcome to download it on via profile page and share.
